    It would be helpful to discuss the fact that anthropos is a word of common gender, which could refer to women only in the singular of plural, although the referents were often, but not always men. even if the referents were men, we should translate what the Greek says, which is “people.” That is what is done for dendros and sukes. There words are translated as “tree” and “fig tree” depending on what the Greek says, even though the referent may be a fig tree in each case. Regardless of context, the translators translate what the Greek says, and not what they think the referent is.
