Imagine a political candidate who holds your views on the economy, the Iraq war, education, health care and foreign policy, promising more jobs, better income and lower taxes.
Additionally, he promises to fight to make it legal to own African slaves and execute Jews in gas chambers.
Would you vote for this candidate? Absolutely not!
Does this make you a one-issue voter? No. It makes you a moral voter. Some issues bear such moral weight that they trump any other “good” promised. Killing preborn children is one such issue.
Barack Obama is one of the most pro-choice candidates ever. He has vowed to make his first act as president to sign the Freedom of Choice Act. Voting for him is a conscious decision to keep legal the murder of innocent children. It is immoral to vote your pocketbook, religion, union or party if it means voting for any candidate who will fight to keep abortion legal.
