I recently purchased this book not knowing what to expect. I was engaged and challenged by this book. More of our preaching needs to discuss the OT background of the text. Excellent book and heavily recommended.

Bryan,

Nice to hear from you. I think the book presents a cohesive argument, and these essays are important contributions in their own right. Many people have adopted the criteria Hays has developed for detecting echoes.

Enjoy!

Sounds like a book to add to my to buy list. I was wondering though if the group of essays feel like a unified whole or like just a bunch of essays thrown together in a book with a common theme but no real interaction? I think that has been what's kept me from getting it before. I felt like he would set me up with one of the essays but since it's just another essay the issues brought up in it wouldn't be carried forward or built upon in other essays. Is it like that?

Blessings,
